The Support a Friend Program is dedicated to helping those who are deeply committed to the path of awakening with Naropa. It provides financial assistance to individuals who are dedicated to Naropa’s programs.
In Buddhism this principal of giving is called Dana which means generosity. Supporting those who cannot afford. This social aspect of our community supports friendship, growth and selflessness.

How to apply
People with a low income can apply for this financial support as long as funds are available. Friends of the Sangha who like to practice generosity can donate to this fund so people who cannot afford the programs can be supported.
Before you apply, first make sure you have no other priorities. Making it a sadhana of honesty. Are you using all your energy to generate income or save for what is most important to you?
Remembering that your sadhana and daily life are not separate. The energy you give to attend retreats and satsangs is a sadhana in itself. It empowers you and asks you take responsibility. You work to meet your basic needs, and attending programmes is part of that, being a primary necessity of life. If in spite of your priority for this path, you are not able to finance the programs, it possible to put in a request.
Therefore, Support Friend is not intended for people who do not want to work, who spend their income on holidays and unnecessary purchases, and who then ask for support. In fact, you would be asking for support to fund your unnecessary purchases and holidays.
